About
A few years ago, I brought a new house. All the sudden, I was in a very stressful financial position, mortgage, gas, power and water bill, etc. therefore, I started researching how to cut my living expenses. I tried a few methods such as giving up Starbucks in the morning and drink instant coffee from office instead, taking buses more often and etc. then I realized that not only I saved little; I gave up the fun part of my life. Then I start thinking about cutting my electricity bill, which is one of the most expensive bills I had to pay. I start following a lot of power saving tips I found on the internet, such as turning of the hot water in the morning when I leave the house and turn it back on when I am home, use heater less often in the winter and etc. It worked! But again, I brought a lot of hassle to my life. Well, what are you going to do? It saved money.
A few months later, I met Jack, who is another author of this website. Jack is so interested in solar technologies that he keeps talking about it when we hang out. One day I was talking about how I reduce my electricity expense, Jack asked me if I am interested in getting a solar power system at home so that I can generate some electricity myself. I thought that was a very good idea and I started looking for buying a system at home. And then it turned out: it is too damn expensive to buy and maintain one. I was going to give up and Jack came to me saying if I am willing to get my hands dirty, I could learn to build it myself and he is willing to help me.
This is where I came from; I started “playing with” all the solar stuff. And now, not only I don’t have to follow those “power saving tips”; I am having a lot of fun saving money. To me, building a solar power system at home isn’t just about saving money anymore. It became my hobby and better yet, I am doing my best to save the environment.
And now, I think it is a good idea to share with all of you guys my story and experience in DIY Solar Power System at home. Enjoy!
